This year, the Prescott-Russell community made 2,328 new requests for services to our agency, including 725 new protection investigations. During the year, we provided 4,651 services of different kinds to 2,757 families.

At any given time, we manage an average of 1,309 cases for children, adults or families (not counting volunteer services).

On a monthly basis, we provided an average of 243 families with child protection services, which under the law are referred to as PART III cases. This counts for a decrease of 10% compared to 2010-11.

We also worked with youth in 15 area schools under our school program, and assisted 330 families during the year.

At March 31, 2012, we had 165 children under our care, 45% of whom were adolescents between 13 and 17 years of age, and 26% of whom were young adults between 18 and 21 years of age. This represents a year-over-year decrease of 11 children. We completed 11 adoptions during the year. We supported 19 young adults over 21 years of age who are now pursuing postsecondary studies.

This year, we had an average 129 foster homes per month ready to take in children or adults in the community. It should be noted that we started an extensive recruitment campaign focused on placing our adolescents, which resulted in 175 home assessments for foster families, home-sharers and adoptive families. We also had 11 children living in 11 kinship placements (where a child in care is placed with family or a close friend).

 At March 31, 2012, we had 113 adults with developmental disabilities receiving our residential services in either a group home, a home-sharer or supported independent living. We are currently assisting approximately 223 adults from the community in daytime integration and guidance with day-to-day living (e.g., grocery shopping, banking, doctor’s appointments) and daytime employment support and activities, which means that they are integrated into their community with the help of everyday people.

For women who are victims of violence and their children, we organize group workshops adapted to their needs, as well as individual services. We opened 194 cases evaluated as "Child exposure to violence between partners", which was up compared to 2010-11. Under our Partner Assault Response program, we organized group interventions for 82 people (including 75 men and 7 women).

We helped 264 children with developmental disabilities and their families, including approximately 86 children between ages zero (0) and five (5) through our infant stimulation service.

Our 24/7 emergency service received 1,820 calls, a decrease of 10% compared to last year, which averages out to 152 calls per month. These led to 203 emergency interventions (an average of 17 per month), representing a total of 867.5 hours of interventions.

We have an average of 246 volunteers, who assist some 100 people throughout the different communities of Prescott-Russell, and who lend a hand in organizing community events.
